Worth it or not
Tailors, leather workshops and shoemakers, in the old town and the streets around it. This is what Hoi An is known for, and it is where nearly every made to measure price on this coast is published. The gap with home is widest on the pieces that take the most work, a two piece suit, a wool overcoat, custom shoes, a leather bag, and narrowest on plain labour that is cheap at home too. The home side is deliberately made to measure tailors and leather workshops rather than the high street, because an off the rack suit is not what is being compared.
Fabric is the whole question. A suit at the low end of a range is a different garment from one at the top, and the shops that name their cloth are the ones worth reading twice. Time is the second constraint: a good result needs two or three fittings across several days, and Hoi An has no airport, so you fly to Da Nang and travel 30 km south. That makes this a decision about how long the trip is rather than about the price.
