How solid are these numbers?

Before you go

• A good result needs two or three fittings spread over several days. Anything ordered on the last morning is a gamble, whatever the shop says.
• Fabric is most of the price on both sides. A suit at the bottom of a range is a different garment from one at the top, and the shops that name their cloth are the ones worth reading twice.
• Nothing here can be returned. An alteration at home costs money and eats into the saving, and a piece that does not fit is a total loss rather than a partial one.
• Hoi An has no airport: you fly to Da Nang and travel 30 km south, so the trip inside the trip is a real cost in time.
• Plain labour is not worth carrying. An alteration or a shoe repair is cheap in the Netherlands too, and the saving does not pay for the suitcase space.
