De moeite waard of niet
Particuliere ziekenhuizen (Vinmec in Times City, Thu Cúc aan de Thụy Khuê) publiceren prijzen voor oogonderzoek, oogmetingen, staaroperaties en een lasercapsulotomie; opticiens noemen prijzen voor monturen (Bello in Hoàn Kiếm) en voor een bril in een combinatieaanbieding (Kính Mắt Nhung Hiếu). Alles wat een prijs heeft is goedkoper dan thuis, met een flinke marge bij de oogmeting, de staaroperatie en een eenvoudige bril, en nauwelijks bij een Ray-Ban-montuur. De pagina is dun: voor contactlenzen, multifocale brillen en oogoperaties met laser staat geen prijs in Hanoi.
Kijk per regel waar het bedrag voor staat. De brilprijs is een combinatieaanbieding van de winkel met een budgetglas in plaats van een groot glasmerk, dus vergelijk hem niet rechtstreeks met een Nederlandse merkbril. De onderzoeksprijzen van Vinmec gelden voor een bezoek op afspraak, zonder afspraak rekent het tarief meer. Het tarief zegt niet of de prijs van de staaroperatie per oog is of de lens omvat, en de metingen vooraf staan op aparte regels.
