The gap is widest on the fully tailored, heavily worked pieces: a wool overcoat, a made-to-measure suit, a leather jacket. It closes completely on simple labour, and a shoe repair or an alteration is cheaper in the Netherlands, which is worth knowing before carrying a bag of repairs onto a plane. Bangkok tailors quote in fabric tiers rather than in single prices, so the same garment can appear at three or four different numbers depending on the cloth, and the low end of a range is a different jacket from the top end. Ask which mill the fabric comes from before agreeing a price. Time is the other constraint: a suit worth having needs two or three fittings across several days, so this is a decision about the length of the trip rather than about the price.
